D-V-D for M-E-E!

We have a new DVD player to break! And we didn't even have to pay for it.

I don't know what the reason, but we're extrememly hard on DVD players. We've had three that have gone tits up just in the past fourteen months. We aren't particularly rough on them, so I don't know what the problem is, other than we tend to buy cheap, inexpensive crap, rather than shell out the big bucks for something well built that might actually last.

K won this DVD player. Every year, the law firm with whom G_ _ _ deals, puts on a "Las Vegas night". The guests - G_ _ _ employees and their spouses, should their spouses be lucky enough to have people willing to watch their kids - play Las Vegas-style games and win "money".

It's fruitful for even the most lame of gamblers. You win at craps, you get money. The dealer wins, you get money. At the end of the evening, you take your "earnings" and buy gifts. If you win a million "dollars", you can buy a big screen projection TV or plasma screen HDTV. K won $150,000 which was enough to buy the DVD player and an autographed Cardinals baseball for my Cardinals memorabilia collection I keep trying to start.

Let's hope this player works and lasts a little longer than the ones in our past, eh?

P.S. Deej - I can't put salt on the driveway, because newly poured concrete takes a year to set after it's dried. If you put any type of chemical on it, the surface of the driveway can erode. It happened with our old driveway from the salt on our tires.
