Kev!n and I had decided upon an artificial, pre-lit Christmas tree as our gift to ourselves this holiday. We perused the Sunday circulars to find the best tree at the best price. We decided to go with the 7 1/2 foot tree at Big Lots, for $59.95.

This morning, we got up and all got ready to go. We drove to the Big Lots about 20 miles from here, versus the one 15 miles the other direction, because it's a bigger store and likely to have a bigger selection. Along the windy, curvy state highway we must travel to get there, we got stuck behind a combine harvester doing 15 miles an hour. We finally arrived, after what seemed like hours.

The kids were fussy after the long drive and couldn't keep their hands off of anything in the store. We found the display of the tree in question and froze with disbelief. It was the ugliest, sorriest looking Charlie Brown piece of shit tree I'd ever seen. It looked like they had forgotten to assemble 50% of its limbs. We left the store in disgust and drove back home.

Our second choice for a tree was at K-Mart, so we stopped there along the way. I sent Kev!n in to shop alone, since the kids were by this time, deplorable. They had it in stock and looked alot less pitiful than the previous tree, for only $20 more.

Merry Christmas to us - that's all we're getting this year for ourselves. Unless I can con Santa into something else. Like this.

Kev!n is off at his first Santa job and I'm contemplating putting three children to bed at 5:00pm. I have a splitting headache and they're driving me up a flippin' wall.

Maybe I'll go to bed at 5:00pm, too. Good night.
